Google Play screenshot rules
Google Play accepts screenshots from 320 to 3,840 pixels on each side, as JPEG or 24-bit PNG, with the long side no more than twice the short side. You need at least two and can add up to eight. To be eligible for promotion, apps need at least four screenshots of 1080 pixels or more, such as 1080 × 1920.
Many current Android phones have screens taller than 2:1 (marked in the table), so a raw screenshot from them is outside Google Play's limit. Placing it in a mockup on a 9:16 canvas such as 1080 × 1920 keeps it within the rules.
